Dr. Amanda Maus

Dr. Maus is our Managing Veterinarian, and as such will be guiding Catalina for years to come. Her early love of animals was reflected in her high school job as a Veterinary Assistant in Hershey, PA at the office of Edward M Mimnagh VMD. While attending Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA she worked at Morris Animal Refuge which peaked her interest in shelter medicine and biosecurity. After graduating from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, she moved to Tucson, AZ and joined Catalina Pet Hospital as an Associate Veterinarian. In 2013, she started volunteering her time with the local Pawsitively Cats shelter filling needs such as fundraising, writing blog posts, and providing herd health preventative care and treatments.  After building her skillset in companion animal medicine and surgery, she began honing her skills in dental surgery along with the introduction of digital dental x-rays as standard of care for Catalina in 2015. In 2016, she began learning about how to decrease fear, anxiety, and stress in her patients with the achievement of Fear Free Elite Certification in 2019. Looking for additional pain and quality of life management options for her geriatric and terminally diseased patients, she started learning about Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and Acupuncture in 2019 and became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2021.  Dr Maus loves being an advocate for maintaining a high level quality of life for all of her patients and is able to do so as a result of her niche training and certifications.

When away from the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband going to new restaurants and hiking in the nearby Catalina Mountains. She also enjoys working on training her young English Mastiff Merlin and spending quality time with her six cats.
